Oman is accelerating the modernisation of its electricity infrastructure, with Nama Electricity Distribution planning to invest more than RO 600 million between 2026 and 2029 to expand and strengthen power networks while advancing data-driven operations.

The investment will support network upgrades, improved operational readiness and the integration of smart meters with advanced monitoring and management systems. By combining real-time network data, geographic information systems, automation and artificial intelligence, Nama aims to improve fault detection, enable predictive maintenance, accelerate emergency response and reduce service interruptions.

This strategic initiative highlights the growing role of digital transformation in critical national infrastructure. As electricity demand rises, integrating intelligent technologies with conventional network investment will be essential to improving reliability, operational efficiency and customer experience.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the programme represents an important step towards a smarter, more resilient electricity distribution network that can support the Sultanateโ€™s long-term economic and infrastructure development.
