Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are playing an increasingly important role in Omanโs aviation sector, accounting for 39% of contracts and purchases by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) during the first half of 2026. The Arabian Stories report
The CAA awarded 268 contracts and purchase orders worth RO 1.35 million to SMEs during the period, highlighting growing opportunities for local businesses to participate in aviation-related projects and supply chains.
The authority says the increased involvement of SMEs supports local economic development, entrepreneurship and job creation, while strengthening the participation of Omani businesses in strategic sectors.
The development reflects Omanโs broader efforts to promote local content and private-sector participation as part of its economic diversification strategy under Oman Vision 2040.
