Oman and Saudi Arabia are strengthening their overland trade links through a new logistics arrangement designed to speed up cargo movement and improve cross-border supply-chain efficiency.
Oman-based Arkan Logistics and Saudi Arabiaโs SPARK Logistics signed a strategic cooperation agreement on August 5 to activate the Secure Green Land Corridor, using the direct road connection between the two countries.
The initiative aims to create a faster freight route, increase shipment volumes and support stronger bilateral trade between Oman and Saudi Arabia. The project is being developed in coordination with transport ministries, customs authorities and Sohar Port and Freezone.
The corridor builds on the direct OmanโSaudi road connection across the Rub Al Khali, which opened in December 2021 and eliminated the need for road traffic between the two countries to transit through the UAE.
The development comes as Gulf economies place greater emphasis on resilient and diversified trade routes, strengthening the role of land and multimodal logistics networks alongside maritime transport.
For Oman, the corridor could further enhance Soharโs position as a regional logistics and trading hub, while opening new opportunities for freight operators, exporters, importers and supply-chain businesses.
