Oman’s drive toward smart manufacturing is gaining momentum, with 45 of 60 targeted factories now assessed under the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) — reaching a 75% completion rate.

The assessments evaluate factories across automation, connectivity, AI, data analytics, workforce readiness and digital supply chains, helping manufacturers identify gaps and build practical transformation roadmaps.

Alongside the SIRI programme, Oman’s Kafa’a lean manufacturing initiative has supported nine factories, with each projected to achieve around RO 360,000 in annual savings through improved processes and reduced waste.

The manufacturing sector contributed around RO 3.7 billion to GDP in 2025, with Oman targeting RO 10.7 billion by 2040 under its Industrial Strategy.

This signals a shift from traditional manufacturing toward connected, data-driven and AI-enabled industrial operations.
