Construction is progressing on the Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex in Seeb, a landmark 400,000 sqm development set to become one of Omanโs largest cultural infrastructure projects.
The complex will bring together several of Omanโs key cultural institutions, including the National Library, National Archives and National Theatre. The National Library will cover 23,000 sqm, while the National Archives will span 22,500 sqm. The 16,300 sqm National Theatre will feature a 1,000-seat main auditorium alongside a 252-seat venue.
The development will also feature a 13,165 sqm Cultural Plaza, landscaped gardens, water features and an 8,000 sqm Energy and Data Centre. Work on the major canopy structure has reached substantial completion, while infrastructure, utility works and finishing activities continue across the site.
Once completed, the complex is expected to provide a permanent home for national collections and archives while creating new spaces for theatre, exhibitions, research, learning and community activities.
