Moody’s Ratings has affirmed Omantel’s Ba1 long-term corporate family rating and upgraded its outlook from “stable” to “positive”, signalling growing confidence in the company’s financial strength and future credit profile.

The rating agency also affirmed Omantel’s Ba1 probability of default rating and ba2 Baseline Credit Assessment, while maintaining Ba1 ratings on backed sukuk and senior unsecured notes.

Moody’s highlighted growing revenue, stable earnings, strong liquidity, prudent financial policies and disciplined capital spending as key factors supporting the rating. The agency expects Omantel’s credit metrics to improve over the next 12–18 months to levels more consistent with its Ba1 standalone assessment.

Despite intensified competition in Oman’s telecom market since the entry of a third mobile operator in 2022, Omantel continues to maintain a strong market position while expanding into complementary digital B2C, B2B and B2G services.
