𝐀𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐥 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝟔𝟖% 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Oman is making progress on a RO2 million wastewater project in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, with the sewage network now 68% complete and construction expected to finish in the final quarter of 2026. The project is being implemented by Nama Water Services.

Designed as an integrated wastewater management system, the project will collect and treat wastewater while expanding the use of recycled water. Its mountainous setting has required specialised engineering solutions to manage steep slopes, varying elevations and challenging terrain.

The project includes a 4.2-kilometre main sewage line, around 46 sewage chambers and approximately 9 kilometres of tertiary treated-water networks. A 6.62-kilometre pipeline will transport treated water to Al Yamani Park, while additional pipelines will supply recycled water to beneficiaries.

Beyond wastewater treatment, the project is expected to protect soil and groundwater, reduce dependence on sewage tanker transportation and support the irrigation of parks and green spaces using treated water. The approach reflects Oman’s move toward a circular water economy, where wastewater becomes a resource rather than simply waste.
