Oman has taken an important step toward securing UNESCO World Heritage recognition for the Salut Iron Age Settlement, launching an international tender to prepare the site’s nomination dossier and management plan.

Located within the Bisya and Salut Archaeological Site in Bahla, Salut represents a significant chapter of Oman’s ancient history, with archaeological evidence spanning the Bronze Age, Iron Age and later Islamic periods.

The initiative highlights Oman’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage while creating opportunities for sustainable tourism and greater international recognition. If successful, the nomination could further strengthen Oman’s position as a destination for cultural and heritage tourism.
