𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭

Oman has signed an agreement to establish a major marine fishing port in Mahout, Al Wusta Governorate, marking a significant investment in the country’s fisheries and coastal infrastructure. The project aims to modernise fishing facilities, improve fish landing, handling and marketing operations, and provide better services for fishermen.

The development will include 650 metres of fixed quays, floating berths, a fish market, ice plants, boat and vessel repair workshops, storage facilities and dedicated plots for fish-processing industries. It will also incorporate tourism and maritime facilities, creating opportunities beyond traditional fishing and supporting a broader coastal economic ecosystem.

Mahout already accounts for a substantial share of Al Wusta’s fishing activity, with 3,134 fishermen and 969 fishing boats, while its fish production represents around 44.2% of the governorate’s total.
