Trial operations for the OmanβUAE railway link are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, according to Omanβs Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The 238-kilometre Hafeet Rail network will connect Sohar with the UAE railway system through Al Buraimi and Al Ain. It is designed to carry both passengers and freight, connecting ports, industrial areas and logistics hubs across the two countries.
Passenger trains are planned to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, while the rail corridor is expected to strengthen cross-border trade, logistics efficiency and regional connectivity.
