𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐃𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐎

Oman has completed and submitted the dossier for the Al Hajar Geopark project to UNESCO for consideration under the UNESCO Global Geoparks programme. The announcement was made by Ahlam bint Hamad Al Qasabi, Director of the Heritage and Tourism Department in Al Dakhliyah.

The proposed geopark covers approximately 5,400 sq km across 11 wilayats in three governorates — Al Dakhliyah, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Batinah. It brings together geological, natural and cultural heritage sites, with objectives including conservation, scientific research, education, tourism and local community development.
