Oman has joined fellow GCC states in calling for stronger regional cooperation on electricity and water, with the 31st GCC Committee for Electricity and Water Cooperation meeting in Manama focusing on electricity interconnection, water security, infrastructure, technology and emergency preparedness. GCC electricity generation reached around 876,000 GWh in 2025, while desalinated water production reached about 8.5 billion cubic metres. The GCC electricity interconnection network generated more than US$952 million in savings in 2025, with cumulative savings exceeding US$5.2 billion since the project began. For Oman, deeper regional coordination could strengthen energy and water security, improve system efficiency and add resilience during emergencies and periods of exceptional demand
