Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has invited companies to bid for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the country’s rain-enhancement stations for 2026–2028, as part of efforts to strengthen water reserves and improve the readiness of the artificial rain-enhancement network. Oman currently has 14 rain-enhancement stations β€” 11 across the Al Hajar mountain range, two in Dhofar and one in Musandam β€” using ionisation technology to enhance cloud condensation under suitable conditions. The ministry said the programme complements wider water-management measures such as dams, rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge, while the new contract is intended to keep the stations operational and efficient in the coming years. The bid submission deadline is November 9, 2026.
