OQ Exploration and Production (OQEP) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Kazakhstanβs national oil and gas company, KazMunayGas (KMG), establishing a framework to identify, evaluate and pursue upstream oil and gas investment opportunities. The partnership will examine opportunities in Oman, Kazakhstan and international markets, including upstream blocks and assets with discovered resources, development projects and producing fields. Potential cooperation could include participating interests and equity investments, joint ventures, technical studies, bids, licences and strategic partnerships, while also covering field development, production optimisation, enhanced oil recovery, mature fields, gas development, infrastructure and the exchange of technical and operational expertise. The agreement was signed during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarikβs visit to Kazakhstan and marks another step in strengthening Oman-Kazakhstan energy and investment ties.
