Oman is taking steps to establish an integrated aviation manufacturing, maintenance and engineering hub through a strategic partnership involving Indonesiaโ€™s GMF AeroAsia and Mach Aerospace International. Preliminary studies indicate that planned investment could reach OMR 25.4 million (US$66 million), including OMR 12.6 million for aircraft structural manufacturing. The wider programme includes an aircraft wheel and brake maintenance centre, an Aviation Engineering Academy, technology transfer and local manufacturing of aircraft components. Training programmes are being developed for aircraft engineering and maintenance, including B1 and B2 pathways, with implementation expected to begin gradually in 2027, subject to the necessary approvals. The initiative aims to build specialised Omani talent, create technical and industrial employment, strengthen local supply chains and position Oman as a regional aviation-services hub serving the GCC, Middle East and wider international markets.
