The foundation stone has been laid for a RO 5.775 million tourism and commercial development on Masirah Island, marking a new investment in South Al Sharqiyahโ€™s tourism infrastructure. Developed by United Real Estate Company, the project will cover approximately 60,000 square metres and bring together accommodation, shopping, leisure and visitor services. Plans include a 20-room tourist lodge, more than 40 villas and chalets, a traditional market, a multipurpose hall, pedestrian walkways, gardens and green spaces. Beyond expanding the islandโ€™s visitor offering, the development is expected to create marketing and business opportunities for local SMEs and home-based enterprises, helping connect tourism investment with community participation and local economic growth. By building on Masirahโ€™s natural beauty and cultural heritage, the project supports destination diversification and Omanโ€™s broader tourism development ambitions.
