The global economy continues to demonstrate resilience despite geopolitical tensions and rising energy costs. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its global economic growth forecast for 2026 to 3.1%, up from its previous estimate of 3.0%, while maintaining its projection of 3.4% growth in 2027. According to the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook, sustained investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure is helping offset some of the economic impact of the Middle East conflict and higher energy prices. However, the outlook remains uncertain, with geopolitical risks, energy market disruptions and financial vulnerabilities continuing to challenge global growth.
