Strong leadership and deep sector expertise are essential to delivering reliable electricity, supporting energy-transition priorities and meeting Oman’s evolving power-sector needs. Sohar Power Company SAOG has appointed Ameer Abdul Hussain as its Chief Executive Officer, effective 12 October 2026. He brings 15 years of experience spanning energy, economics, renewable energy, regulation and project management across Oman and the wider GCC, including 10 years at Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP). His expertise covers independent power producer projects, power purchase agreements, power-system planning, renewable-energy integration, tariff development and commercial modelling. This leadership appointment comes at a time when utilities must balance operational performance, system reliability and the integration of cleaner energy sources. His experience across procurement, regulation and project development provides a strong foundation for advancing Sohar Power’s strategic priorities and supporting the continued development of Oman’s electricity sector.
