Oman is strengthening its position in the global date-palm industry by hosting the sixth session of the International Dates Council in Muscat, beginning 18 October 2026. Represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Oman will welcome participating member states for discussions on developing the date and date-palm sector, expanding international cooperation and improving the industryโ€™s competitiveness. The six-day session will review the Councilโ€™s annual report, strategic initiatives and sector priorities, with discussions covering production data, research, quality standards, food safety, processing, marketing and international trade. Participants will also explore partnerships with private-sector companies, universities and research centres, alongside knowledge exchange in innovation, sustainability and value-chain development. By supporting collaboration, stronger standards and access to international markets, the meeting aims to raise the economic value of dates while contributing to agricultural development and food security.
