Womenโ€™s participation in employment, higher education and asset ownership is an important indicator of Omanโ€™s progress towards a more inclusive and diversified economy. According to figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the number of employed Omani women rose 9% to 270,696 in 2025, representing around 30% of all employed Omanis aged 15 and above. During the year, 31,808 Omani women were newly appointed, while womenโ€™s economic participation increased to 32.9%, compared with 32.4% in 2024. Education also recorded encouraging gains, with 79,250 Omani women enrolled in higher education in 2024/25, an increase of approximately 5%, while the number holding postgraduate qualifications grew 11%. These trends reflect expanding opportunities for women to contribute across professional, technical, academic and entrepreneurial fields. Sustaining this progress through skills development, access to employment and leadership opportunities will remain important to Omanโ€™s economic diversification and the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040.
