Omanβs maritime sector is recording strong growth, reinforcing the Sultanateβs role in regional and international trade, shipping and supply-chain connectivity. During the first eight months of 2026, Omani seaports and marine terminals recorded more than 11,000 vessel calls, an increase of 27.9%, while container throughput exceeded 4 million TEUs, up 20.5% year on year. Cargo handling also rose significantly, reaching approximately 146 million tonnes, an increase of 62.3%. Vehicle handling recorded particularly strong growth, climbing 182.6% to 188,368 vehicles. These results highlight the growing importance of port infrastructure, operational efficiency and logistics services in supporting Omanβs economic diversification. Continued investment in port capacity, multimodal connectivity and supply-chain capabilities can create further opportunities for importers, exporters, shipping operators and logistics providers, while strengthening Omanβs competitiveness as a regional gateway for international commerce.
