Oman is taking another step towards a more technology-driven financial sector as the Financial Services Authority (FSA) launches the supervised trial of Rushd, a digital investment advisory platform operating within its FinTech Regulatory Sandbox. The platform uses algorithms and intelligent technologies to develop personalised investment portfolios based on an investorโs financial objectives, asset values and risk tolerance. It also supports portfolio management, including asset allocation, ongoing monitoring and rebalancing, with investment solutions managed in accordance with Islamic Sharia principles. The trial will assess technical and operational readiness, investment suitability, risk-management controls and user experience before any wider public launch. Importantly, Rushd remains within the regulatory sandbox and must meet the required regulatory, technical and operational conditions before receiving a final licence. The initiative highlights how responsible fintech innovation can broaden access to digital investment services while keeping investor protection, transparency and regulatory oversight central to the development of Omanโs capital market.
