Muscat is advancing investment in public amenities and nature-based tourism with the development of the Bandar Al Khairan Walkway, which has reached 30% completion and is targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2027. Implemented by Muscat Municipality, the 1.9-kilometre project is designed to improve access to one of Muscatโ€™s distinctive coastal landscapes while expanding opportunities for outdoor recreation. Planned facilities include three viewing points, eight shaded seating areas, dedicated rest areas, a cycling track, landscaping and lighting designed to complement the surrounding environment. Because the project lies within a nature reserve, environmental considerations are being incorporated into its design and implementation to minimise potential impacts on the areaโ€™s natural features. Once completed, the walkway is expected to enhance the visitor experience, encourage healthier outdoor lifestyles and support tourism-related activity in Muscat Governorate. The project reflects the importance of balancing recreational infrastructure and destination development with the conservation of Omanโ€™s natural heritage.
