Oman is strengthening its mining sector with new investment opportunities aimed at attracting local businesses and supporting the growth of the construction materials industry. The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has opened three mining sites in Ibra, North Al Sharqiyah, containing commercially viable quantities of gabbro, a rock widely used in construction and infrastructure projects.

The sites cover a combined area of just over 2.5 square kilometres and were prepared with the required permits and approvals in advance to help simplify the investment process and reduce administrative delays. The initiative also aims to create opportunities for experienced Omani mining companies, including smaller local businesses, to participate in the sector.

This move reflects Omanโ€™s broader ambition to diversify its economy, strengthen domestic industries and encourage private-sector investment. With continued demand for construction materials and infrastructure development, mining offers opportunities across quarrying, processing, logistics and related services.

For investors and businesses, the development is a reminder to watch for emerging opportunities in Omanโ€™s natural resources sector and assess how local capabilities can support the countryโ€™s long-term economic growth.
