Oman is strengthening its industrial base and accelerating economic diversification, with the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) signing 28 investment agreements worth more than RO304 million across the Sultanateβs economic zones, free zones and industrial cities.
The agreements cover a wide range of industries, including steel and ceramics manufacturing, vehicle assembly, food processing, fisheries, logistics, fertilisers, electric vehicle charger manufacturing and oil-recycling facilities. Projects are planned across key locations including Duqm, Sohar, Salalah, Khazaen, Ibri, Raysut and Nizwa, creating opportunities to expand local production, strengthen supply chains and support business growth.
Among the major projects are a steel and iron products factory in Sohar Industrial City, an automotive assembly complex in Sohar Freezone, and new food and fisheries processing facilities in Duqm. The planned electric vehicle charger and components factory at Khazaen also highlights opportunities emerging at the intersection of manufacturing and clean mobility.
These investments reinforce Omanβs ambition to attract specialised industries, develop local capabilities, create employment and increase private-sector participation in line with Oman Vision 2040. For investors and businesses, the expanding industrial ecosystem offers new possibilities for partnerships, supplier development and long-term growth.
