Omanโ€™s Musandam Governorate is taking steps to strengthen its tourism sector, improve public services and support local businesses amid challenging regional conditions. The Musandam Municipal Council has requested exemptions and other support measures for tourism businesses affected by these conditions, aiming to help operators sustain their activities, protect investments and maintain tourism momentum.

A key development under consideration is a proposal for an integrated tourism port in Khasab. The proposed facility could increase the governorateโ€™s capacity to welcome visitors, provide specialised tourism services and strengthen Khasabโ€™s position as a marine tourism destination. The project remains at the study stage, with further details yet to be announced.

The wider development agenda is also progressing. According to municipal officials, 14 development proposals have received approval and entered implementation, following discussions on 67 development and service-related topics. Initiatives include neighbourhood improvements, plans for a solar power plant in Madha, model farms, food-security investments and urban renewal in Lima.

These developments highlight Musandamโ€™s potential as a destination for tourism, maritime activities and investment. Improving infrastructure while supporting local tourism operators and SMEs will be essential to unlocking that potential and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

With its unique coastline, mountains and marine attractions, Musandam has an opportunity to strengthen its contribution to Omanโ€™s tourism economy and advance the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
