Apple has proposed a new 15% commission on purchases made through external links inside iOS apps, according to a recent court filing.
Under the proposed structure, small-business developers would pay 5%, while developers in certain Apple partner programmes would pay 10%. Subscription renewals would also be subject to a 10% rate.
The proposal comes amid Appleโs long-running legal battle with Epic Games over App Store policies and commissions. Apple argues that the fees help recover its investment in the technology, tools and services supporting its software ecosystem.
The move could have significant implications for app developers, digital businesses and consumers, as technology companies face increasing pressure over how digital payments and platform fees are structured.
