Oman has taken an important step toward securing UNESCO World Heritage recognition for the Salut Iron Age Settlement, launching an international tender to prepare the siteโ€™s nomination dossier and management plan.

Located within the Bisya and Salut Archaeological Site in Bahla, Salut represents a significant chapter of Omanโ€™s ancient history, with archaeological evidence spanning the Bronze Age, Iron Age and later Islamic periods.

The initiative highlights Omanโ€™s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage while creating opportunities for sustainable tourism and greater international recognition. If successful, the nomination could further strengthen Omanโ€™s position as a destination for cultural and heritage tourism.
