Oman is planning a new passenger terminal at Sohar Airport as part of efforts to expand regional air connectivity and strengthen the airport’s role in northern Oman.

New routes are expected to be announced before the end of 2026, with potential destinations including Dammam, Gwadar and southern Iran. The expansion is intended to provide more travel options from northern Oman and reduce reliance on Muscat for some regional journeys.
