Oman is taking an important step towards connecting higher education with real-world industry needs as Duqm University College launches the GCCโs first bachelorโs degree programmes built around work-based learning. Located in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, the college is introducing an innovative educational model that combines academic study with practical training in actual workplace environments, helping students gain professional experience, strengthen problem-solving skills and prepare for the evolving job market. In its first phase, the college is offering two programmes in partnership with Coventry University, UK: a BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions and a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and Leadership. The initiative also aims to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and public and private sector organisations, particularly across Duqmโs growing industrial, logistics and services sectors. Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, this approach represents a significant move towards developing future-ready Omani talent and ensuring that education outcomes better match the needs of a diversifying economy.
