Omanโ€™s tourism and real estate sectors continue to create opportunities for investment, hospitality development and local economic growth. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has signed an agreement with Al Mursal Trading and Investment LLC to develop the Malkai integrated tourism complex across approximately 800,000 square metres in Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate. The project will be developed in phases and combine luxury hospitality, leisure and residential facilities within an agricultural landscape inspired by traditional Omani walled gardens. Plans include a luxury resort with 51 accommodation units, a gym, spa and outdoor lounges, alongside 51 residential villas available for freehold ownership. The development aims to attract quality investment, expand Omanโ€™s luxury and wellness tourism offering, create direct and indirect employment opportunities, and generate business for local suppliers. By integrating hospitality with Omanโ€™s natural setting and cultural character, Malkai represents another step in diversifying tourism destinations and strengthening the sectorโ€™s contribution to the national economy in line with Oman Vision 2040.
