Sohar Industrial City Attracts RO 214 Million in New Projects

general • Aug 9, 2026
Sohar Industrial City attracted more than RO 214 million in investments during the first half of 2026, with 39 contracts signed covering new projects, expansions, replacements and renewals across more than 1.1 million square metres.

The industrial hub received around 49 investment applications during the first six months of the year. Cumulative investment in Sohar Industrial City has now exceeded RO 2.3 billion, with 497 companies established and approximately 12,671 workers employed.

Among the major investments is a RO 25 million ceramics factory, which is expected to create 500–600 jobs, including more than 150 opportunities for Omanis. Around 75% of its production is planned for export to GCC and neighbouring markets, strengthening Oman's manufacturing and export capabilities.

Sohar is also advancing a 93 MW renewable energy project designed to provide clean energy to industrial investors at competitive costs while supporting emissions reduction, lower natural gas consumption and greater energy security.

The latest developments reinforce Sohar's growing role as a strategic industrial and export hub and support Oman's broader economic diversification ambitions under Oman Vision 2040.
