Oman Allocates Over 2,000 Acres in Dhofar for Food Security Projects

Oman’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has signed 10 agricultural usufruct contracts worth more than RO 2 million, covering over 2,000 acres across Dhofar Governorate.

The projects will be developed in Muqshin, Thumrait, Shalim and the Hallaniyat Islands, covering activities including crop cultivation, watermelon and cantaloupe production, poultry farming, and seasonal and non-seasonal crops.

The initiative aims to increase local food production, attract private-sector investment and make productive use of government land, supporting Oman’s long-term food security strategy.

The projects also contribute to economic diversification, sustainable agriculture and stronger public-private sector cooperation, aligning with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
